Purpose: More Happy

Why we exist. The unchanging core.

More Happy

Professor Steve Peters has a thought experiment. You are on your deathbed and your grandchild asks, “what should I do with my life?”

My answer is to do more of things that make you happy and fewer of those that don’t. Happiness is, of course, different for everyone.

For me “happy” means:

  • Happy customers
  • Exploring new and creative ideas
  • Working hard towards a goal
  • Multi-tasking many priorities
  • Getting things done urgently
  • Being energised by team mates

If you’re definition of happy is wildly different, you won’t fit in here.

Notes:

  • Communicate purpose in brand
  • Recruit for purpose
  • Introduce new joiners to purpose
  • Reference purpose during projects
  • Reference purpose in company materials
  • Make decisions based on purpose
  • Recognise individuals living purpose
  • Reward for purpose

Purpose is one of the foundations of a strategy to win.
